Enjoy the sun and the sea... Enjoy your family moments...

We recommend you find an accommodation in Lapad, one of the most beautiful areas of Dubrovnik suitable for enjoying walks by the sea, sandy beaches, playgrounds, parks and natural shade...

The king Zvonimir alley in the bay of Lapad is a walking path by the sea connecting Lapad and Babin Kuk. Babin Kuk with its parks and green areas is ideal for ballgames, cycling, table tennis, and mini-golf...The other side of the penninsula of Babin Kuk is easily reachable by a sandy path. That is where you will find the famous Copacabana beach, where you can relax with a refreshing beverage while your children play with pebbles.

While in the Old Town, make sure you visit the Aquarium and the Museum of Natural History. For a great view, walk the city walls. Seeing the defensive towers from up close and cannons that protected the City from its enemies alone is worth it. The City Cafe, Snack Bar, or Cele right on the Stradun, the main street of Dubrovnik, each is a good place for coffee and cake. Your children might enjoy playing at the little square in front of the church of St. Blase.

Just a 10-minute boat ride away from the Old Town quay lies the island of Lokrum, an ideal place for a day-long escape. Lokrum is rich with variety of vegetation and has an old botanical garden. You can enjoy bathing in Mrtvo more, a warm salt-water lake (the Dead Sea), or strolling along the tranquil paths which are frequently wandered by peacocks.

Spend a day in the Honey Valley near the Bosanka hill above Dubrovnik. Let your children enjoy the fresh air and pony rides. Learning about the farm animals is fun in this magical little kingdom for children.

If your stay is longer, do not omit visiting Konavle where, in addition to all aforementioned, you also may enjoy the horseback riding. If you find yourself at the airport early and have some extra time on your hands, we recommend a visit to the Đurović cave beneath the Dubrovnik airport.

If you are visiting Dubrovnik during the summer, spend a day at the splendid Dubrovnik beaches. The sandy beaches of the Elaphite islands or Slano, or the pebbled ones in Brsečine or Srebreno, might be a fine destination for a day long trip. The sun and the sea will strenghten your immune system, and the photos of your children's first swimming, diving, or kayaking experience will forever remind you of your family's unforgettable vacation in Dubrovnik. Both you and your children will surely wish to visit again soon.

Allow me to illustrate for you the possible fun activities for your children. With its nice weather and calm beautiful scenary, summers are especially appealing for creating a family quality time.
Swimming and sun bathing are the activities of choice for people of any age. Do remember to protect against UVs. The experts advise applying the high-factor protection every two hours, staying in shade from 10am to 5pm, and always wearing a hat.

The first swimming experience this and every season, the first one altogether, really, should be well controlled and safe. It is recommended you remain calm and patient while introducing your child to this new experience. If your child is still quite afraid, perhaps fun games on the beach or in the very shallow water will do the trick.

It is fine to have your toddler swim naked, but do put on them some protective clothing when out of the water to help protect against possible injuries or infections.

Do not leave your children unsupervised in the water, wheather swimming, diving or snorkeling, especially if they are not very good swimmers. Be cautious about their body temperature, and have them come out and get warmed up before going back in the water.

Also, it might be a good idea to bring with you to the beach refreshing beverages, fruits, and of course, toys.

Snorkeling

For your children who are already good swimmers, you may consider getting some goggles and fins. This will open a whole new world to them. Who knows, you also might have a great time exploring the underwater world.

Most all towns have aquariums hosting many species that inhabit the Adriatic, including fish, sea urchins, various sea shells, sponges, etc.

Be sure to take your children boat riding, ferry riding, or sailing. This will be a precious experience for them. If it so happens that they do not at first enjoy it very much, try to have them photograph the sea, the beaches, the houses along the coast, seagulls, or any other marine life. Photography is creative and a fun passtime that might even become a family hobby.

Try and collect little souvenirs of the places you visit, such as sea shells, intrestingly shaped pebbles, etc. Use them to create your own unique souvenirs or simply put them on display in your home.

Taste some of the delicious local specialties, authentic fruits and condiments. Do not forget to ask for recepies so that you can recreate the experience.
