Night Life and Entertainment
The South is especially known for the feasts. Every settlement, even the smallest ones, hold a feast, usually during the summer. Some of those feasts also have a flee market where you can buy at a bargain price authotonic handicrafts. There is live music in every settlement, very often featuring the performances of Dalmatian folk ensembles.
Cities hold festivals. For instance, Dubrovnik is renown for the "Dubrovnik Summer Festival" where you can enjoy a variety of great performances (theatre, dance, music). The Festival was founded in 1950, and 6 years later it became a memeber of the European Festivals Association (EFA). It runs from July 10 - August 25.
There are many bars, lounges, and clubs that offer entertainment for both young and more mature population.
In recent years, modern music events have been organized (techno, house, trance...) hosting many world famous DJ names. The traditional live music performances on hotel terraces, stages, and restaurants have been preserved for those that prefer slower rhythm. Throughout the year there are street performers. Their music might just welcome you to the Old Town.
